Community Desk, QSBuild confidence and make informed money choices with practical, judgment‑free, financial education.
Dollars & Sense is a free, community‑based financial empowerment program that helps participants build confidence, strengthen their financial wellbeing, and make informed money decisions.
Joining Cambridge Public Library for a series of Community Desk visits, and workshops. Community Desk visits offers one‑on‑one financial counselling, benefits navigation, and free tax‑filing clinics, providing personalized support for financial questions, applications, and referrals. All services are completely free and free of sales pressure, creating a safe and trustworthy space for learning.
Workshops cover real‑life topics such as budgeting, saving, credit, financial safety, debt, and long‑term planning. Participants learn in a warm, inclusive environment with snacks, small goodies, and a gift card for completing the feedback survey, ensuring the program is welcoming and accessible. All sessions are delivered using a trauma‑informed, anti‑oppressive approach that meets participants where they are.

About our partner
YWCA Cambridge is a local charity dedicated to advancing gender equity and providing inclusive, participant‑led programs for women, girls, and gender‑diverse individuals. Dollars & Sense is part of a national initiative led by YWCA Canada to improve financial literacy for low‑income women and gender‑diverse people, weaving financial education with empowerment activities to support long‑term economic stability.
Workshops are facilitated by Kiranjot Kaur, Financial Literacy Program Coordinator at YWCA Cambridge, an educator and community builder committed to creating safe, supportive, and participant‑centered learning environments that foster financial confidence, resilience, and practical skill‑building.

Located in the heart of downtown Galt, Queen’s Square features the largest public library collection in the city as well as the main gallery and studio space for the Cambridge Art Galleries. After exploring the Gallery, relax with a book in the multiple study and reading areas, discover the large children’s department, or take in a special musical performance on the grand piano.
