In this workshop, Alyssa Pisciotto will go over the how-tos of zine making, followed by guided time for participants to create a zine that explores lived experiences, truths, & stories of being queer.
Fine Zines: A Queer Zine Workshop will go over the how-tos of zine making, including basic binding techniques, followed by guided time for participants to create a tangible zine that explores lived experiences, truths, and stories of being queer, however that may look for them. Participants are welcome to submit their zine to the Fine Zines archive, which will be available in both a physical space and as a digital archive, free and open to all.
Founded by Alyssa Pisciotto, Fine Zines: A Queer Zine Archive is a zine archive that focuses on queer experiences and voices. Queer narratives are often erased or overlooked throughout history, so preserving these stories and truths preserved in the ways the authors and creators intend is very important. Through the format of the zine, channels of accessibility are opened up, as zines are traditionally low-budget, self-published, and made with anything the maker wants to use. Submissions to Fine Zines: A Queer Zine Archive are open to any member of the LGBTQ+ community. For more information or to submit to the archive, email queerzinearchive@gmail.com or find them on Instagram: @queer_zine_archive.

This event is part of Missing Pages, a community-centric online project that makes space for voices that are underrepresented in our knowledge institutions. Public catalogues of stories—whether an archive, a university, or a library—are intended to tell us who we are. However, they undoubtedly omit and exclude experiences and knowledge. This series of public programs and online artworks focuses on personal and collective narratives that shape our communities, both locally and internationally, that are missing from collected records.
This program is delivered through Zoom. You only need to register once per viewing device.
Cost: Free
