Immerse yourself in this one-hour tour of the Queen's Square neighborhood where stories of the people and buildings of a bygone era will be shared.

Join journalist Kevin Swayze for a walking tour around Queen’s Square, the place he calls the most historic crossroads in Cambridge. It’s where Galt’s founder William Dickson planned the village’s western gateway, welcoming visitors on foot, horseback, or in stagecoaches for community fairs, sports, stage shows, and movies; and political gatherings, church services, and parades.

Upon registering, you will receive a waiver via email, which must be reviewed and signed prior to the tour.

Local Spotlight offers hands-on workshops, friendly competition, and conversations with local makers and community members. Each session brings fresh topics to explore, from sustainable living tips to crafting and community discussions, so there’s always something new to enjoy.

About the branch

Located in the heart of downtown Galt, Queen’s Square features the largest public library collection in the city as well as the main gallery and studio space for the Cambridge Art Galleries. After exploring the Gallery, relax with a book in the multiple study and reading areas, discover the large children’s department, or take in a special musical performance on the grand piano.


Cambridge Public Library supports and inspires its community to explore reading, the arts, innovation, and lifelong learning across five locations and online.
