Join Alisa in the Preston Gallery and learn how to reclaim everyday materials to use in your creative projects.
This workshop is presented as part of Belonging: Artist in Residence. All materials are provided, no experience necessary.
During her residency, Alisa will engage the community by inviting participants of all ages and skill levels to contribute to sculptural textile works that explore storytelling, identity, and folklore. Using hand-crafted techniques such as weaving, sewing, and punch-needle embroidery, the project will become a living, collaborative tapestry – an evolving conversation between artist and community.
"This winter, I’ll be working as the Artist in Residence at Cambridge Art Galleries and Cambridge Public Library, transforming the gallery into a cozy, open studio where everyone is invited to make art with me. Together, we’ll explore and experiment with textile techniques such as knitting, crocheting, weaving, punch-needling, quilting, sewing, and even reclaiming yarn from old sweaters and clothing. Through drop-in making sessions and hands-on workshops for all ages, we’ll create a collaborative installation that celebrates community, creativity, and connection." - Alisa McRonald
Belonging Artist in Residence is made possible through the generous support of the Keith and Winifred Shantz Fund for the Arts held at the Waterloo Region Community Foundation.
