Carpenter Khaleel Seivwright builds small, life-saving shelters for unhoused people living outside in Toronto during the winter of the pandemic. His actions attract international attention, but also staunch opposition from city officials.
The film premiered at the 2023 Hot Docs Canadian International Documentary Festival, where it was named the winner of the Rogers Audience Award.

Zack Russell - Director/Producer
Zack was born and raised inToronto, Canada. He has directed and written for television and made two award-winning narrative shorts. His first short film, She Stoops To Conquer, premiered at SXSW and went on to win the 2016 Canadian Screen Award. His work has been screened at film festivals around the world, including TIFF, SXSW, VIFF, and NewOrleans. Someone LivesHere is his first documentary.
Khaleel Seivwright
Khaleel Seivwright is a carpenter known for formerly building tiny shelters for unhoused people in Toronto in the fall of 2020. Currently he is working with a team, building tiny home communities for unhoused people in Toronto.
Shannon Down
Shannon Down is the Executive Director and a lawyer at Waterloo Region Community Legal Services. She practiced commercial litigation, employment law and mental health law in private practice for a number of years before joining the legal clinic in 2013. Since joining the clinic system, Shannon has represented clients before various administrative tribunals as well before the Superior Court of Justice. Shannon was co-counsel on The Regional Municipality of Waterloo v. Persons Unknown and to be Ascertained, 2023 ONSC 670, where WRCLS lawyers successfully argued that a proposed encampment eviction violated the S.7 Charter rights of the encampment residents.
