Land conservation around the world faces serious challenges as both human population and demand for ecological services increase. We will discuss the problems and opportunities facing conservation and biodiversity in southern Ontario in general and Waterloo-Wellington in particular. This lecture will also reflect on community collaborations and garden projects under the Springbank Farm umbrella, including the volunteer-driven food bank garden project, rare’s education and demonstration garden, and rare’s expansive community garden allotments.
