This workshop outlines a process of reflection and articulation that will guide the reluctant artist to write about their work. The goal is to enable participants to express; in their own voice, the uniqueness of their practice, while also helping them move forward creatively. Artist and mentor Lyla Rye will begin with statement guidelines and discussion about the act of writing, as a visual person. Participants will be provided with examples of artists’ statements and online resources and have the task of writing broken down into manageable components.
This workshop is offered in two parts. In part 1 we’ll look at guidelines and examples and in part 2 we’ll get to writing. We recommend registering for both parts, but you are also welcome to register for either part independently.
Part 1 of this workshop is on September 28, 2022.
