Who doesn’t love hanging around the kitchen with a new friend?
“Eating together, breaking bread together, is one of the oldest and most fundamentally unifying of human experiences” Barbara Coloroso
In this hour-long webinar, you will meet our neighbour, Abiha Syed from the Muslim Women of Cambridge and learn about the food from her culture of origin, India. Led by Abiha, we will prepare a delicious meal together as we chat about her culture, life, and making Canada a home. You are welcome to observe – but you can also join in and cook with us. Abiha will be standing by to answer questions on chat as you do so. The grocery list is below, so pick up the ingredients, open up your laptop or tablet and meet us on Zoom and in the kitchen!
This program is delivered through Zoom. You only need to register once per viewing device.
About the Cambridge Art Galleries Exhibition: eating the other
eating the other is a group exhibition that elaborates on the relationships between food, race, and belonging through distinct artworks and public programming. The exhibition will feature four artists, offering various entry and exit points into timely conversations around food as a medium for eating together and cooking back. Artists Molly Caldwell, Rajyashri Goody, Gabrielle Paré, and Alize Zorlutuna will share projects emerging out of diverse cultural sites of food production and consumption. Collages, installations, literature, workshops, and foodstuff will be exhibited together to gesture to the critical potential of food in contemporary art.
