It's Poetry Month in Canada - a great time for an Open Mic.
An evening of poetry in all its forms. Bring your work, make your way to the mic to share, or enjoy the poetry of others. Find inspiration with your fellow creatives and bask in the glory of the well written word.
This program content is for mature teens (Ages 14+) and adults.
Chudear Oyual is a local poet, model and creative in the Waterloo Region Known for weaving stories of identity, community, and resilience. As the author of a newly published poetry book, recipient of a few awards, and some well-earned grants under their belt, Chudear is all about bringing art back to the people—sharing words that spark conversation, connect community, and celebrate real-life experiences. Whether it's at a local reading or through community projects, Chudear’s passion is inspiring others to share art from the heart."

Nestled in historic Hespeler village, the Hespeler Library is a fusion of the old and the new. This 100-year-old Carnegie library is encased in a modern glass structure and boasts a comfortable reading area with a fireplace as well as a spacious and welcoming children’s area. The environmentally responsible building features recycled white oak floors and a ceramic treatment on the glass to reduce sunlight intensity.
