Learn how to write for films!
Participants will view and discuss an award-winning short film as a springboard to learning the basics of screenwriting: how to create strong protagonists and suspenseful narratives with thematic resonance, and how to format scripts to the film industry standards.
About the Instructor
Laurie Lam is a writer, story analyst, and teacher. She has an MFA in Screenwriting from the American Film Institute and has taught at the University of Winnipeg and the Winnipeg Film Group. She has analyzed scripts for the Mark Taper Forum in Los Angeles and film companies across Canada.
These workshops are a collaboration between Inter Arts Matrix, Idea Exchange, and Cambridge Art Galleries. They are funded by operating grants from the City of Kitchener, City of Waterloo, Ontario Arts Council Media Arts Projects, and the City of Cambridge as part of our on-going film series.
