Take a seat at the screening station during your library visit. The 13-minute film screens on a loop throughout the day. Put on the headphones, get comfortable, and enjoy the film whenever you stop by.
Journey of Resilience follows a determined Spanish immigrant who transforms her struggles in Canada into triumph and finds hope through dance.
About the filmmaker
Great Osa-oni is a filmmaker based in the Waterloo region. Journey of Resilience is Great’s capstone project for Conestoga College’s Broadcasting – Television and Independent Production program. The film reflects the spirit and experiences of our local community.
The film has received recognition, including:

- Official Selection and Nominee — Toronto International Nollywood Film Festival, 2025
- Official Selection and Nominee — Brampton International Nollywood Film Festival, 2025

About the Waterloo Region Migration Film Festival
Immigration Partnership organizes the Waterloo Region Migration Film Festival (WRMFF) annually to facilitate greater discussion around migration and relocation. This is achieved by creating spaces for respectful interaction and dialogue. Storytelling is the oldest way to share and have impactful conversations around social issues. WRMFF serves as an educational tool that can influence perceptions and attitudes toward migrants by bringing attention to matters that affect basic human rights! These films, set in a Canadian context, highlight both the opportunities and challenges of migration, showcasing the contributions and experiences of immigrants in Canada. All three films aim to spark meaningful conversations and will resonate with a diverse audience, including individuals who do not speak English and those who are struggling to find a sense of belonging.
