All workshops are virtual, drop-in, and no registration is required. Join the program at the scheduled time on Zoom.
September 19: Meet and Greet
Discover how the Cambridge Career Connections employment team is able to assist Cambridge residents with their employment and job search needs. Learn about our pre-employment supports and how you can access these free services. In addition, you will learn about the wide variety of programs and supports Idea Exchange offers and how they inspire our community through reading, arts, innovation, and learning.
September 26: Resume Development
In the Resume Development workshop, participants will explore various resume styles including the structure and content of both chronological and functional resumes, while determining what style is appropriate. Participants will also learn resume “Do’s and Don’ts” as well as what should be included in a cover letter in this interactive workshop.
October 3: Interview Skills
The Interview Skills workshop offers an overview of the various elements of the entire interview process. Looking at all stages of the interview process, participants will learn the “Do’s and Don’ts” of the interview process. After attending this interactive workshop, individuals will be more confident entering an interview, know how to make a good first impression, and have the building blocks to answer interview questions appropriately.
October 10: Job Searching, Networking, and Social Media
In the interactive Job Searching and Networking workshop, participants will explore and gain knowledge about how to access the hidden vs. open job markets. Participants will explore five topics, some of which include exploring traditional vs. non-traditional job searching and the application process.
Oct 17: Employer Expectations
In the Employer Expectations workshop, participants will explore various “Do’s and Don’ts” on how to keep a job and what employers look for and expect of their employees. From general attitude to learning about styles of manager feedback, clients will learn tips and tricks to help them meet expectations and keep their job.
October 24: Getting to know your Paycheck
The interactive Getting To Know Your Paycheck workshop offers an introduction to the tax deductions that you expect to have taken off of your employment income. Looking at the breakdown of a pay stub may be confusing and stressful, especially when starting a new job. After attending this workshop, we hope that individuals have a greater understanding of what tax deductions will be taken off of employment income, why these deductions exist, and roughly how they are calculated.
October 31: Workplace Wellness
Be informed on how to manage workplace stress and anxiety. Not only is it important to recognize the symptoms of workplace stress, but the steps we can take to address and learn what causes it. Learn about the tips and tricks for a healthy self-care routine and how we can work to reduce/remove the source of these stressors.
November 7: Resume Development
