Learn about Trans Art and Activism in this talk hosted by Adam Barbu.
Taking its inspiration from trans activist Sylvia Rivera’s proclamation that “we are numerous,” this talk offers an expansive reading of community through the lens of artistic production. Gathering a range of historical and contemporary practices, Adam Barbu explores a fluid, shifting understanding of gendered embodiment. Presented in this context, trans is not a singular identity category but rather a force of difference that refigures the body as a surface of meaning.
