Join artist and mentor Lyla Rye as she teaches us about visual support material for any application type (exhibition, grant, school, residency...). This includes guidelines, tips and examples of good artwork documentation. We will also discuss how to order your images and format image lists. After the workshop, you will receive a handout via email to refer to in the future.
Presented in conjunction with Lyla Rye: Illusion’s Obstacles, on view at Cambridge Art Galleries, Queen’s Square from May 21 to July 3, 2022.
Instructor Biography: Lyla Rye began her studies in architecture, then focused on drawing and painting during an undergraduate degree at York University. After completing a Master’s degree at the San Francisco Art Institute she focused on installation, video and photography. Rye has been practicing professionally and exhibiting actively for over 30 years. Her work has been exhibited across Canada and internationally.
Lyla Rye has taught at the Ontario College of Art and Design University, University of Guelph, Queen’s University, University of Toronto Continuing Studies, Toronto School of Art, the San Francisco Art Institute and in the Art and Art History Department at Sheridan College joint with University of Toronto Mississauga. For over 5 years she coordinated the studio intensive, post-degree program at Toronto School of Art, leading group seminars as well as mentoring a student in the program each term. She has been an admissions juror for both secondary and post secondary programs, a juror for provincial artist grants and an examiner for 5 Master of Fine Arts thesis defenses and an external advisor for 3 MFA candidates.
